Scientific responsible of the Traffic Modeling group within the STU, working as transportation researcher within the C2ART project, providing support to the JRC activities in Cooperative, Connected and Automated Road Transport. The C2ART project investigates the impact of Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) technologies on future road transport systems, in terms of Traffic Congestion, Emissions and Energy Efficiency (Fuel Consumption and Tractive Energy Consumption), through a combined approach based on traffic modelling and simulation, desktop research and stakeholders’ consultation.

Research on the impact of vehicle dynamics on traffic flows, design and implementation of a microsimulation model for accurate estimation of vehicle longitudinal movement and emissions.

R&D on computer science and data analysis within the framework of the Container Traffic Monitoring (Contraffic) project. Risk assessment on maritime container traffic monitoring data (data analysis, machine learning, data mining) for the detection of fraudulent container movements. Development and maintenance of web-services related to EU customs antifraud and safety/security policies.

Development and implementation of machine learning and pattern recognition techniques in the fields of content-based image retrieval and image classification. Participation in EU-funded research projects and preparation of technical and scientific documentation.
